PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a direct injection type diesel engine at a low cost in which the valve does not stand upright. SOLUTION: A cylinder head 100 of a direct injection type diesel engine 10 is provided with a fuel injection valve hole in place of the spark plug hole of a cylinder head of a DOHC, 4-valve gasoline engine, for providing a fuel injection valve 400. An inlet cam 130 and exhaust cam 140 driven via cam pulleys 150, 160 provided with a variable phase mechanism are shared with the gasoline engine and used only when the phase changes. The cylinder block 200 is also shared with the gasoline engine and a cylinder bore 210 sliding portion of the piston 300 is the same as that of a gasoline engine. |
