The filling opening (3) for the container is covered by a hatch (10) pivotably mounted with respect to a horizontal pivot axle (8) between side pieces (9) in the container walls. A rear fitting (11) extending along the top edge of the hatch and between the side pieces forms a scoop (7) for refuse to be emptied into the bin. Refuse added to the scoop will slide down into the bin as the hatch is closed.
