A system for providing word information is provided to offer information for a word by capturing an image for prints, transferring the image to an information device for recognizing the word from the image and searching the information corresponding to the word, and displaying the word information received from the information device. A camera(100) generates an image by capturing prints including a word. An information device(200) converts the image received from the camera into the image easy to recognize the word, and recognizes the word from the converted image. A search device(300) searches and displays the information corresponding to the recognized word. The information device includes a transceiving interface(201), an image preprocessor(202), a character recognizer(203), a post processor(204), and an application(205). The character recognizer recognizes/generates the first word from the left or right side of a reference line by setting the reference line on the converted image. The post processor determines whether the first word is valid, and transmits a recapture command to the camera when the first word is invalid. The application is linked with the search device to extract the information corresponding to the valid word.
