A variable cooler for a rear axle is provided to facilitate cooling of the rear axle, since a frontal end portion of a plate-like member is lowered, guiding the cool outside air to a housing for cooling. A variable cooler for a rear axle(1) which transfers torque of a transmission to a rear axle(3), comprises an air flow guide device(5) whose frontal end inlet is open downwards to form a passage to guide air to a housing(4), by receiving force that is proportional to the speed of air flowing to the downside along a bottom of a vehicle frame. The air flow guide device comprises a plate-like member(6) whose rear end is connected to the housing by hinges(9,10) having a gap with the housing for allowing the air to pass therethrough, and frontal end has an air protector(7) receiving head wind while driving and rotating around the hinges to open the inlet, and a tension spring(15) which generates attraction force, so that the frontal end of the plate-like member makes tight contact with the housing, against wind pressure acting on the air protector, when the vehicle speed is low.
