A water-insoluble, porous, mutually bonded polymer containing a hair treatment substance, whereby the pores are interconnected in order to allow the substance to be dissolved out of said pores, preferably with a zero order release and without changing the geometry of the pores. During application, the matrix comes into contact with the hair, whereupon the hair treatment substance is dissolved out of it and applied to the hair. Hair treatment items such as combs or hair dryer prongs (5) can be produced from the inventive matrix or can be coated therewith.
