A compact electrode for discharge surface treatment, composed of a compact electrode main part which is produced by pressing a metal or metal compound powder or a mixture of a metal or metal compound and a ceramic powder and a metal die used for pressing the powder. The compact powder electrode main part is not taken out from the die, and they are used for discharge surface treatment.
