A pickling device, wherein a pickling tank (11) is filled with acid liquid (L) and a cover (12) is attached thereto, a covering part (12b) formed by recessing downward the center portion of the cover (12) is positioned at a level lower than the liquid level of the acid liquid (L) contained in the pickling tank (11) so as to cover the free surface of the pickling liquid L, and immersed guide rolls (20a to 20e) are installed on the covering part (12b), whereas support blocks (21a to 21e) are installed at the bottom part of the pickling tank (11), and skids (23a to 23e) are installed on the support blocks (21a to 21e) through a bottom plate (22) so as to lower the level of the free surface of the acid liquid (L) contained in the pickling tank (11), whereby acid loss is suppressed and its overflow to the outside of the tank is prevented to increase the pickling treatment efficiency of a band steel plate (S).
