Molded component for insulating pipes in regions of couplings and branches, e.g. for aircraft water system

An opening slot (11) is positioned on the molded insulating component (10) so that it leads tangentially outwards from the internal diameter and forms two acute-angled flanks. The internal diameter of the component corresponds to the maximum external diameter of the pipes (8) or couplings (7) being insulated. The component is formed as a muff acting as an enclosure for the couplings of pipes. The component may be a T-piece to insulate pipe branches, and consequently has a main pipe element and a branch pipe element.
