A supply of household water containing calcium particles passes through a section of double-walled tube (2) incorporating permanent ring magnets (3). The magnets (3) are separated by spacers (4) fabricated of magnetizable material. The double-walled tube (2) has end connector fittings (5). The inner tube (6) contains an axial spiral plate (7) and occupying the full width of the inner pipe (6). The plate has one to three turns imparting a twist to water flowing through the inner tube (6). The plate (7) is made of magnetizable non- rusting metal. The outer tube (2) is manufactured of non-magnetizable material. The inner tube (6) and end-fittings (5) are fabricated in magnetizable non- corroding metal. The permanent ring magnets (3) and spacers (4) are arranged in a stack within a dry compartment and held in place by end-bushes (9).
