Each door (13,14) is pivoted by hinges (10) to the vehicle body (2). The hinges are supported by spindles mounted in sections (8) aligned with the sides (7) of the vehicle body and do not project inside the vehicle body. Each door has an internal deformable peripheral joint. Each door is fastened to the hinge spindles by a pin. The spindle is housed inside a section (21) forming a side upright of each door. This section containing the hinges is formed from segments (211,212....21n) joined by connectors (24) having ferrules engaged in the section segments which define a channel for the ferrules. The connectors are made from moulded material and each form a recess for each hinge. The section segments have legs forming a groove for fitting a centre rib (15) which is also fitted in a section groove forming upper and lower cross members (17,18).
