The data storage method is used for data sequences which are stored on a number of data carriers, the data sequences arranged in data groups, each stored alongside a corresponding test data sequence, allowing reconstruction of lost data for the stored data sequences. The data sequences and the test data sequence are combined by modifying the test data sequence by each successive data sequence within the group.
