The electricity meter includes an interface unit (2) which has an opto-coupler (4) formed as a discrete component. Preferably, an opto-coupler is provided for each phase of the mains for redirecting impulse signals in the interface unit to evaluation units. A multiple opto-coupler is provided for at least two phases of the mains for redirection the impulse signals. The interface unit includes a transistor switch (5) which is formed as a discrete component. The outputs of the opto-coupler are connected to the transistor switch inputs.
