A toner characterized by comprising a toner binder comprising a resin (I) selected from among cationically polymerizable thermoplastic resins (A) and radical-polymerizable thermoplastic resins (B), and a colorant and having a glass transition temperature (Tg) before curing of 35 °C or above. Since the resin (I) constituting the toner binder is polymerizable, curing can be conducted at the time of the fixation of an image on a substrate and the number-average molecular weight of the toner binder can be increased after the fixation. Therefore, a toner binder having a low number-average molecular weight may be adopted to conduct the fixation at a low temperature with a low energy. Further, the number-average molecular weight is so low that the viscosity is low and excellent glossiness can be developed, thus providing a high-quality full-color image. The toner binder can be polymerized and cured during the fixation to increase the number-average molecular weight. Therefore, hot offset hardly occurs, and high fixation strength and excellent rubbing resistance can be developed.
|
