A color picture alignment apparatus and an alignment method thereof are provided to calculate a correction coefficient of a block per color by using a first color alignment pattern, and to print a second color alignment pattern by using a second color alignment correction value, thereby decreasing an alignment error of the color image which is formed at the center as well as a left/right side. An alignment method of a color picture alignment apparatus comprises the steps of; judging whether an image alignment mode is selected or reset(S500); sensing a color image pattern which is printed on a transfer belt when the mode is selected or reset(S510); calculating a relative position of another color based on the selected color and calculating a first color alignment correction value per each color(S520); controlling the first color alignment pattern to be printed(S530); calculating/storing a correction coefficient of a block per each color by using the first color alignment pattern(S540); calculating a second color alignment correction value per each block by using the stored correction coefficient(S550); and printing a second color alignment pattern by using the second calculated color alignment correction value(S560).
