A rotary pump consists of four oval discs in the same plane and in close proximity, and whose central axles are each at the mid- point on the sides of a notional square. Each oval disc is orientated at right angles to the adjacent disc, with which it is in contact. The discs rotate in the same direction, causing a change in the cross-sectional area of the central space between the four discs.
