A disconnecting device, especially a disconnecting or isolating rail (10) includes at least one contact unit for contacting an incoming conductor core (16,18) and at least one further contact unit for contacting an outgoing core (20,22). Both contact units contact one another in order that the incoming core (16,18) makes electrical connection with the associated outgoing core (20,22), and in which each of the cores is fixed at one contact point of the associated contact unit. The contact units are arranged relative to one another such that the contact points are mutually displaced, and the centre axes (11,17) of the cores (16,20) are correspondingly displaced and extend mutually in parallel to one another.
