A device and a method for peeling shrimps (22) or similar crustaceans, which device is provided with two clamping elements (2) which are capable of clamping a shrimp (22) against a supporting surface (1) with its backside (shell), wherein each clamping element comprises an edge (17) essentially extending towards said supporting surface (1), which is capable of engaging the shrimp (22) on its belly side, near the edge of the shell, characterized in that at least part of the said edge (17) of the clamping element is serrated.
