The stationary and rotating races of a rolling bearing are both made of steel comprising 0.65 - 1.20 carbon, 0.10 - 0.70 silicon, 0.20 - 1.20 manganese, 0.20 - 1.80 chromium, and preferably up to 0.02 sulfur (all in weight %), and 16 ppm oxygen. The rotating race is subjected to a heat treatment after which it has 0 - 6 volume % austenite and a bearing surface Rockwell C hardness of 57 - 65 HRC. The stationary race is also subjected to a heat treatment after which is has at least 7 volume % retained austenite and a bearing surface Rockwell C hardness of 60 - 65 HRC. The stationary race, a rotating race and the rolling elements between them are all lubricated with grease.
