REFRIGERATOR AND THE CONTROLLING METHOD

A refrigerator and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce power consumption for maintaining a temperature of a freezer compartment and a refrigerator compartment by changing an output of an inverter linear compressor at least one time within a period on the basis of temperature errors, which are differences between temperatures of the freezer compartment and the refrigerator compartment and a set temperature. A method for controlling a refrigerator comprises the steps of: maximally driving an inverter linear compressor if first or second temperature errors are greater than a maximum output temperature(S210); and changing power of the inverter linear compressor at least one time within a period if the first or the second temperature errors are lower than the maximum output temperature(S205,S250,S275). The first temperature error is the difference between a temperature of a freezer compartment and a set temperature and the second temperature error is the difference between a temperature of a refrigerator compartment and a set temperature.
