The guardrail (1) has a shaped rail (5) connected to a number of posts (3) to sustain collision by a vehicle; each post (3) is connected to a respective spacer arm (21) to which is fitted a bottom rail (19) located at such a height off the ground as to be engaged by the usual front hood or by a fender of a wheel of the vehicle; the bottom rail (19) has a vertical central wall (33), a bottom wall (36) sloping towards the post (3), and a horizontal top wall (34); and the bottom wall (36) has downwardly-open recesses (38) engaged by a bolt (48) for connection to the spacer arm (21).
