A multiple access radio communication system sends IF signals from individual radio modules to separate dedicated antenna modules in an antenna apparatus. Each antenna module is dedicated to one radio module, and has RF circuitry for converting the frequency of the IF signals for the associated radio module and a power amplifier dedicated to the signals from the associated radio module. In a preferred embodiment an antenna module has a radiating element mounted at a right angle to a reflecting base plate, and the RF circuitry for the associated antenna and radio module is on a circuit board mounted parallel to the base plate opposite the radiating element. Antenna modules may be stacked in vertical arrays, and vertical stacks may be arranged in different outwardly sector-radiating arrays. Also in a preferred embodiment, timing signals and power are provided to the RF circuitry at the antenna modules on the respective coaxial cables serving each module. |
