<p>The invention relates to modified food products of high methionine content meant to reduce the serum homocysteine concentration. According to the invention, the food product comprises at least 5% proteinaceous matter by weight of the dry matter, wherein at least 50% by weight of the proteinaceous matter is of animal origin and/or derived from seeds, nuts, grain or pulses, the said food product containing cysteine [Cys] and methionine [Meth] as amino acids, in a [Cys]/[Meth] molar ratio greater than or equal to 2 :1, and it is meant to be used within a method for treating or preventing elevated plasma concentrations of homocysteine.</p> |
