PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively provide zirconia-carbon base refractory contriving to protect stabilized zirconia particles and also having high corrosion resistance and high thermal impact resistance by providing a coating layer on the zirconia particles. SOLUTION: In this zirconia-carbon base refractory, a coating layer of unstabilized zirconia is provided on individual surfaces of the stabilized zirconia particles in the whole or a part of the zirconia texture. Further, the thickness of the coated layer is made into >=0.05 μm and less than the radii of the individual stabilized zirconia particles. Thus, the stabilized zirconia particles are hardly corroded and the high corrosion resistant and high thermal impact resistant zirconia-carbon base refractory can easily and inexpensively be provided. |
