ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION AND GLAZE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial composition and a glaze that can manifest marked antimicrobial effect by coating the surfaces of tableware, sanitary earthenware, enamel material and the like with this composition. SOLUTION: The objective antimicrobial composition is prepared by coating feldspar particles or a composite ceramics prepared by firing a mixture thereof with calcium phosphate having an average particle size of 1-30μm, with silver particles with a particle size of <=1μm in an amount of 5-50 wt.% based on the weight of the feldspar. The glaze is prepared by using 0.1-10 wt.% of this antimicrobial composition.
