PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound having a high activity per aluminum atom and a high solubility in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent, etc., and useful as a catalyst for producing an olefinic polymer by making so as to have a specific structure. SOLUTION: This aluminum compound is obtained by making so that aluminum is in a five coordination state and one or more atoms coordinately bonding with aluminum in a ligand coordinately bonding with aluminum, are oxygen. As such a compound, the compound having a structure expressed by a composition formula: RAIO (R is a hydrocarbon) is preferable, e.g. a compound of the formula [R<4> is H, a halogen, a siloxy, an alkoxy or the like; (n), (o) and (p) are each >=2]. The compound is obtained e.g. by treating under a reduced pressure and heating a mixture of (A) an organic oxidized aluminum compound with (B) an organic aluminum compound in preferably (1:0)-(1:2) mixing ratio of the components (A) and (B).
