PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new echinocandin B (ECB)-binding peptide comprising an echinocandin-binding region such as the ECB containing specific amino acid residues adjacent to a specific amino acid sequence and useful for the screening, etc., of a fungal 1,3-β-glucan synthase inhibiting compound. SOLUTION: This new substantially pure ECB-binding peptide contains at least 46 adjacent amino acid residues of an amino acid sequence represented by the formula and is used for the screening, etc., of compound inhibiting a fungal 1,3-β-glucan synthase and useful for the development, etc., of an antimicrobial compound against fungi threatening the life. The ECB-binding peptide is obtained by cloning a yeast genomic DNA with a primer comprising a DNA fragment encoding the ECB-binding region according to a polymerase chain reaction(PCR), integrating the resultant clone together with a DNA encoding glutathione S-transferase(GST) into a vector, transferring the resultant vector into a host cell, transforming the host cell, cultivating the prepared transformant and expressing the gene. |
