PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein comprising an immunoreactive peptide homologous with specific amino acid positions of a varicella-zoster virus(VZV) protein VP26 and useful for the diagnosis, etc., of infection with the VZV developing the zoster. SOLUTION: This new immunoreactive peptide is homologous with an AA12-235 region of a varicella-zoster virus(VZV) protein VP26 and is useful for the diagnosis, etc., of infection with the VZV held by a peripheral nerve in a sensory ganglion by infection and developing the zoster. The immunoreactive peptide is obtained by using ultrasonic waves in a VZV-infected fibroblast, releasing virus particles, extracting a virus DNA from the virus particles, according to a conventional method, constructing a genomic expression library by using the resultant virus DNA, screening the expression library, sorting out a clone containing the virus DNA capable of encoding the VP26, then integrating the sorted out virus DNA into a vector and expressing the virus DNA in a host cell. |
