A street light system is provided to detect a ground fault by turning on or off a ground switch repetitively with a predetermined interval. A street light system includes a plurality of transformers(110a-110n), a plurality of street lights(120a-120n), and a transformer(130) for the street light. A plurality of transformers convert the power supplied from the power supply unit into the power supplied to the plurality of street lights. The plurality of street lights are operated by the power source transformed by the plurality of transformers. The transformer for the street light is arranged between the plurality of transformers and the street lights. A secondary winding of the transformer for the street light is earthed through a ground switch. The ground switch is arranged between the secondary winding for the transformer for the street light and the system ground. The ground switch is turned on and off repetitively with a predetermined interval.
