A work station is fitted with a light-detecting device comprising a light sensor which detects the light intensity of the ambient light at the work station and generates a voltage which is proportional to the detected light intensity. The voltage is transmitted to a comparator (16) which is connected to the light sensor (10) and compares the voltage generated by the light sensor with a reference voltage and emits an electrical signal when the voltage generated by the light sensor (10) falls below the reference voltage. The light-detecting device also comprises an actuating element (22, 24, 26) which is controlled by the electrical signal emitted by the comparator (16) and generates an actuating signal.
