An automotive clutch has two plates with rings (4,5) and a clutch lining. One plate is linked to the motor drive shaft and the other to the gearbox. The two plates are set at a slight angle to each other allowing one to roll over the other. The position of the plane between the two rings is progressively adjusted by means of one of the rings operated by the clutch pedal.
