The invention relates to a fibrous composite sandwich component, especially a motor vehicle body part, with a core layer (1) which acts as a spacer and which is arranged between two fiber-reinforced cover layers (2, 3). A foam core preform (1) is arranged between two fibrous preforms (2, 3) which are formed into a predetermined shape and which are made of multiaxially oriented reinforcement fiber bundles, and the preforms (1, 2, 3) are embedded in a reaction plastic matrix.
