The new design of a serrated conveyor belt (1) has one serrated surface (1A) and one plane surface (3). Transversal grooves (4) are positioned on the top surface and along the valleys (5) of the notches (2) below and two bores (6) for the insertion of bolts in each of the areas between the grooves. A thin steel layer (7) is located between the two surfaces (1A, 3) in order to support the belt, especially regarding torsion. The top layer is removed at the ends (8) of the belt with a specifically designed device (22) and the ends can be joined by connecting these areas.
