The electrode is of a high melting point, electrically conducting material and consists of a core pin (7) with a coil body (8) pushed onto it. A protrusion (9) is formed on the side of the core pin at a distance from the tip. The coil body is mounted with at least one winding behind the protrusion. A second protrusion can be arranged on the pin on the opposite side from the first protrusion. Independent claims are included for a lamp containing the electrode and a method of producing the electrode.
