A multifilament superconductor strip contains bismuth cuprate superconductor filaments having a specified low shape factor. A strip-like multifilament superconductor comprises a normally conductive silver matrix material surrounding ten or more spaced-apart superconductor filaments of bismuth cuprate with a 2223 type high Tc phase which have a shape factor F (F = pi <2>/*(df//4bf; df and bf are respectively the filament thickness and width) of less than 0.03, especially less than 0.025.
