Monochromatic fluorescent x-ray source with increased efficiency

A fluorescent X-ray source has an anodic target formed by the inside wall of a vacuum housing which contains a non-focussed electron beam source and a fluorescent target. A fluorescent X-ray source comprises a non-focussed all-round emitting electron beam source and a fluorescent target arranged within a vacuum housing, the inside wall of which forms an anodic target for generating X-ray bremsstrahlung for monochromatic X-radiation emission in the fluorescent target which is directed at an x-radiation outlet window (10) of the housing.
