The container for the console between the front seats of a motor vehicle has a casing (10) with a pivot axis (12) for a flap (11) for covering the opening. A stop (17) is arranged on the pivot axis opposing side of the casing. The stop is a bolt (20) parallel to the pivot axis of the flap extending into a bore (19) in the sidewall of the container.
