Oscillating flying shears

A guillotine for heavy duty work on tempered metal sheets has the upper blade (20) and the lower blade (22) are mounted on massive supports (19,21) which are secured to the upper and lower mountings (12,10) which are also massive to prevent distortions. The blade supports are provided with cooling bores for a coolant circulation and the supports are thermally insulated from the mountings by insulating packing. The mountings are solid, apart from the bores, and can transmit large impact forces.
