The converter unit (26) has a rod-shaped element (40) attached to a body of a converter unit, a cylindrical compound element with a through opening, whereby the periphery of the compound element is eccentric w.r.t. the opening and the rod-shaped element is inserted into the opening, and a converter lens (30) rotationally mounted on the periphery of the compound element. The converter lens performs a rotation so as to protrude into a beam path of the lens unit or to move out of it, thus varying the focal length of the lens unit.
