The method involves measuring the frequency or phase of the generator (1) voltage (U-Gen) and network voltage (U-Netz) or their frequency and phase differences, matching the generator voltage frequency or phase to those of the network voltage and connecting the generator to the network on reaching a defined synchronization state. A voltage for controlling the stimulation voltage or current is derived from the measurement of the frequency and phase or the difference values, to influence the generator voltage frequency and/or phase by controlling the generator's voltage dependent losses. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for parallel connection of synchronous generators.
