PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a detection element difficult to be affected by a thermal stress due to mechanical impact or contraction-difference in sealing material layer. SOLUTION: A gas sensor 1 comprises an outer tube 18, a main body bracket 3 allocated inside the outer tube 18, and a detection element 2 which, allocated inside the main body bracket 3, detects a target component in a gas which is to be measured in an insert hole 30 of the main body bracket 3. Between the inside surface of the main body bracket 3 and the outside surface of the detection element 2, or, between the inside surface of an insulating body 4 allocated in the interval from the detection element 2, inside the main body bracket 3, and the outside surface of the detection element 2, sealing for adhesion is made with a sealing material layer 32 comprising chiefly a glass. Buffer layers 33 and 34 of porous inorganic material are so formed as to contact at least one end of the sealing material layer 32 in axis line direction of the detection element 2. |
