摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the power consumption of a display device lower by performing the applying of a prescribed display data voltage in either period of periods equivalent to N pieces of 0 piece being in one horizontal period and performing an (N+1)- gradation display with a split pulse width modulation to enable displaying of multilevel assigning intensity levels while driving a display device with only a driving IC incorporated with a line memory whose cost is inexpensive. SOLUTION: At the time of performing an (N+1)-gradation display while dividing one horizontal period into N pieces, however the applying of a data voltage is performed by the repeatation of an HI and an LO in the conventional device, in contrast to this way, the applying of the data voltage is performed by the repeatation of the HI, the LO, the LO and the HI in this display device. Consequently, the sign of a voltage difference is inverted (multi-common-inverted) every common electrodes of two lines without inverting (one-common-inverting) the sign of the voltage difference every common electrode of one line. As a result, it is made possible to reduce a frequency and to reduce power consumption of the device in accordance with this way and also the picture quality is made satisfactory by making a shadow wing to be hardy generated while suppressing the voltage reduction of resistance electrodes.
