PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry recording paper precisely and also prevent color drifts and color blurs for color image recording by gripping the recording paper tight without causing any existent harmful effects such as out-of-register adversely. SOLUTION: A paper carriage mechanism for use in a printer delivers recording paper with its carriage device made up of a pair of rollers, such as a capstan roller and a pinch roller, from image recording where images are recorded on the recording paper inputted at the paper feed side through paper ejection where it is ejected out. The paper carriage mechanism concretely comprises a capstan roller 1A having all over its surface arrayed projections 3 with a height of 60±40μm, preferably 55±5μm, as well as a pitch of 0.5±0.2 mm, a pinch roller 2A of high rubber hardness as a roller pair to the capstan roller 1A, and a backup roller 4.
