摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a response speed by providing a second vertically aligned layer which is processed by a rubbing treatment in the lengthwise direction of counter electrodes, a liquid crystal layer in which all liquid moleculres solitarily have an uniform tilt angle from a lower part substrate and a second polarizing plate formed on the rear surface of an upper part substrate. SOLUTION: Positive type liquid crystal is poured into the liquid crystal layer 14 between both substrates and vertically aligned layers 13, 16 are formed on the upper surface of a lower part substrate 10 and the upper surface of an upper part substrate 15. Polarizing plates 17A, 17B are mutually and crossingly provided on the rear surfaces of the upper part and lower part substrates. In this case. The aligned layer 13 is processed by a rubbing treatment so as to have a prescribed angle in the left or the right in the lengthwise direction of the counter electrodes and also the aligned layer 16 is processed by a rubbing treatment. Rubbing treatments of the oriented films of these upper and lower substrates are performed so that rubbing directions are not parallel with each other. Consequently, when voltages are not applied liquid crystal molecules 14A of the liquid crystal layer 14 are not randomly arranged while having tilt angles different from each other and they are arranged while having a constant tilt angle.
