PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reduction of the image density in an exposure device which scans a laser beam. SOLUTION: This exposure device 21 controls a driving (preparatory driving) current to a threshold or a value approximating it at the time of turning-off of semiconductor laser elements 101A, 101B, 101C and 101D to improve the rise characteristic of the laser output at the time of turning-on of laser elements, thus preventing the image density from being unexpectedly reduced. At this time, laser elements radiate the laser output, but the output is attenuated by half mirrors 120, 121, and 122 not to cause fogging in a non-image part. |
