PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate a variety of positioning and to perform manufacture without causing the defects of short-circuiting a metallic reflection film and an electrode layer laminated on a substrate and disconnecting the electrode layer. SOLUTION: For this reflection type liquid crystal display device 21, a liquid crystal layer is enclosed between the substrates 22 and 23 by a sealing material 24 clamped between the substrates 22 and 23, a large number of irregularities are provided on the surface of one of the pair of the substrates 22 and 23 and the metallic reflection film 33 and a flattening film are laminated on the irregular surface. The large number of irregularities on the substrate surface are formed excluding at least an electrode terminal formation area 37 and the substrate surface is flat in the electrode terminal formation area 37. |
