PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for an electronic component and a method for manufacturing a rotary electronic component, so as to install terminal strips readily and surely at lower cost. SOLUTION: A substrate 1 for an electronic component comprises a resistor pattern 13 which has a slider coming an sliding contact with the upper surface of an insulating substrate 10, terminal patterns 15 which are drawn from the resistor pattern 13, and terminal strips 40 which sandwich the upper and lower surfaces of a periphery 21 of the insulating substrate 10 and are connected with the terminal patterns 15. Recesses 17 are disposed on the upper surface of the insulating substrate 10, and small projections 47 of the terminal strips 40 are deformed and pushed into the recesses 17 so as to fix the terminal strips 40 onto the insulating substrate 10.
