PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter which surely detects the release of an output port, a rupture of an optical fiber, etc., and inhibits the emission of a high output optical signal to the outside in each output port. SOLUTION: An abnormality discriminating means 3 detects an up signal sent from a transmission line connected to an output port 2 and discriminates whether or not an abnormality has occurred in the transmission line, based on the detected up signal. When an abnormal occurrence is discriminated, a light cut off means 4 provided between an optical signal generating means 1 for generating an amplified optical signal and the part 2 is operated, and the transfer of the optical signal from the means 1 to the port 2 is cut off. Thus, an optical signal of a high output is prevented from being emitted externally without limiting the amplification operation of the means 1. |
