<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing optical glass fiber of high tensile strength with multiple coatings. SOLUTION: This method for producing optical glass fiber is such one that, prior to coming into contact with any solid surface, a fiber 4 drawn from a molten glass or glass preform is fed, using a liquid coater 40, with a polymerizable coating solution consisting of a mixture of at least 1st and 2nd liquid components serving as a coupler so as to provide a solid coating on the fiber surface, wherein the process has 1st step and 2nd step: the 1st step comprises preparing the polymerizable coating solution by continuously mixing the 1st and 2nd liquid components with each other while the drawing operation is going, and the 2nd step comprises feeding the polymerizable coating solution to the liquid coater at a rate corresponding to that of feeding the solution onto the surface of the fiber.</p> |
