PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric double layer capacitor whose manufacturing time is short and capacity density is high. SOLUTION: This electric double layer capacitor is provided with a first electrode body 31, in which electrode layers 31b and 31c are formed at a band-shaped collector 31a, while a band-shaped part 31ax along one longitudinal side is retained, a second similar electrode body 32, band-shaped separators 33a and 33b for electrically insulating the first and second electrode bodies 31 and 32, a polar core 40 for forming wound elements by winding the electrode bodies 31 and 32 and the separators 33a and 33b, a first current collecting board 72 for collecting currents which is in contact with the band-shaped part 31ax, and a second current collecting board 62 for the band- shaped part 31ax. The band-shaped parts 31ax and 32ax are positioned on the opposite side end faces of the wound elements, and the both end parts of the core 40 are brought into contact with the first and second current collecting boards 72 and 62. The relative positions of the axial directions of those current collecting boards 72 and 62 are decided, and the current collecting boards 72 and 62 are insulated electrically. As a result, working is made easy, and a manufacturing time can be shortened without requiring tab-shaped current collecting leads. Also capacity density per unit volume can be increased. |
