PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium having an excellent reproducibility of a highly minute image. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording medium comprises at least two recording layers each containing a xerogel porous pigment on a paper support. In this case, 25 to 75 wt.% of a pigment component contained in the layer near the support of the layers is a xerogel porous pigment having a specific surface area of 100 to 500 m<2> /g, and 75 to 25 wt.% is a non-xerogel pigment having a specific surface area of 100 m<2> /g or less. |
